So I want to talk to you all about tinnitus in this video.
Tinnitus is the perception of noise or ringing in the ears.
First of all, let’s understand why this happens-
If you have hearing loss,
Voices that you must hear at a certain level are not being heard by you.
It may happen that you can hear sounds inside your head that are created by your hearing system, not your environment. It could be ringing, humming, pulsing, or hissing. It is more prominent in quiet areas or at night.
There are three small bones that connect to the eardrum to help amplify sound waves, when someone has Otosclerosis (Calcium deposit on the ear bone) Or (an inherited disorder that causes hearing loss due to the ear’s inability to amplify sound), one of the bones is unable to vibrate freely.
The noises of tinnitus may vary in pitch from a low roar to a high squeal, and you may hear it in one or both ears. In some cases, the sound can be so loud it interferes with your ability to concentrate or hear external sound.
A study published in the Journal Of The “American Medical Association” found a link between Tinnitus and Suicidal tendencies.
Researchers from the Stockholm Public Health Cohort(SPHC) in Sweden studied 71,542 patients and found that individuals with severe tinnitus were more likely to attempt suicide.
There is no cure for tinnitus, and to date, no drug or medical device has been shown to reliably improve this condition.
Now researchers have inched closer to making treatment for tinnitus a reality.
Some people with tinnitus suggest that acupuncture could help make tinnitus sounds quieter and less severe. However, there’s no evidence that acupuncture can cure tinnitus. it can only be a temporary solution for tinnitus.
So How Hearing Aids Help Tinnitus!
Hearing Aid is not a cure for tinnitus. Hearing aids can augment the volume of external noise to the point that it covers(masks) the sound of tinnitus.
