Hi everyone,
This video is about tinnitus. It is a VERY common symptom of benzo & antidepressant withdrawal. I could argue it is in the top 3 most common symptoms. I see it all the time during coaching. It’s somehow related to the brain and changes within it from these drugs. I’ve read it’s from a GABA imbalance, hyperexcited brain, toxicity, or changes in the neurons or cells themselves. I don’t know for sure, but in my opinion, it isn’t really related to the ears at all, that’s just where we perceive or “hear” it. I think it’s more common from benzos, but I haven’t gathered actual data on this. I believe it can be caused by starting, stopping or changing any psychiatric drug. Some people find it VERY distressing and some just call it a mild nuisance. It’s all related to the hyperawareness that happens with a brain stuck in fight or flight. I’ve noticed that stress, fatigue and prolonged time spent on Wi-Fi devices can exacerbate it or bring it back if there has been respite from it. Some people say sugar brings it on stronger as well.
What is your experience with tinnitus? Do you find it very distressing? Does it come and go? What makes it better or worse?
